How high is cherry laurel?
Some laurel cherries quickly grow over their owners' heads under ideal conditions and reach an impressive size. The shrubs form through their vigor in a short time an attractive green screen, but should be cut at least once a year, so that the fast-growing wood does not take up too much space in the garden.

The size of the cherry laurel will ultimately depend on which variety you plant and how often you cut back the shrub. For example, regularly cut cherry tree hedges of the Caucasica variety can reach heights of up to three meters. Under ideal conditions, these shrubs can develop over the years but also to impressive trees with a height of six meters and more.
Tall and slim or rather broad
Cherry berries are both upright awake as the cherry laurel Etna and more broad as the variety Prunus Herbergii. Species such as the laurel cherry Mount Vernon, however, grow creeping and only reach heights of about fifty centimeters. With these species you can plant trees or green unsightly garden corners. These groundcover are also popular as evergreen grave jewelry, which should be cut regularly to avoid over-exploding.

A cherry laurel shrub can grow up to half a meter in height per year and thereby reach its final size within a very short time. However, as the shrubs are usually as wide as they are high, this growth in small gardens can also be a problem. Therefore choose a variety of cherry laurel, whose stature height matches the size of your plot.
Cut cherry laurel regularly
In order to keep the size of the cherry laurel in the desired frame, the shrub should be cut at least once a year. The best cutting time is spring, right after flowering. Since motorized cutting tools and hedge trimmers make the beautifully shaped leaves of the laurel cherry look as if they were torn, the pruning should always be done with a scissors or pruning shears. If desired, you can prune the cherry laurel a second time in late summer.
Tips & Tricks
An overgrown laurel cherry does not need to be dug up and destroyed. The wood also tolerates a strong pruning well and can be reset if necessary to the old wood. Be willing to leave after this radical cut again.
