The soil claims of cherry laurel
In order for the cherry laurel to develop magnificently and form dense hedges, the soil condition should not be underestimated. You should also make sure that excess water can drain well, as the laurel cherry is relatively sensitive to waterlogging.
Loosen heavy soils
Cherry laurel prefers neutral or slightly alkaline soils, which should also be humus rich, well drained and slightly calcareous. Acid clay or loamy soil, on the other hand, does little to the evergreen shrub. Even before planting you should loosen up these soils.
