When and how do you plant cherry trees?
For sweet and sour cherries, the autumn planting is the cheapest. The young cherry trees form during the winter months, as long as there are no degrees of frost, wound tissue and fiber roots. Therefore, they are partially rooted until the onset of sprouting and can immediately begin their normal water and nutrient uptake. Planting will not take place before mid-October.
How to multiply cherry trees?
Each cherry tree consists of at least two plant parts: a root part (the base) and a sprout part (the sweet rice). The propagation takes place by grafting the scion on the base. The sweet cherry starts to bloom from the middle of April and the sour cherry starts from the end of April / beginning of May. In general, the numerous flowering promises a good yield. However, the flower must first be fertilized so that it becomes a cherry. Most sour cherry varieties are self-fertile, but the sweet cherries usually need a suitable pollinator cherry tree nearby that will flower at the same time.
