To promote growth and yield by fertilizing the cherry tree
Cherry trees need large amounts of nutrients each year to grow, flower and fruit. Only a few soils naturally have enough nutrient reserves. Mostly the gardener has to help by fertilizing.
The amounts of nutrients extracted from the soil by the cherry trees only partially return to the soil through natural decomposition processes. In order to promote lasting growth and yield performance of the cherry trees, the gardener must re-supply the nutrients through fertilization. These are the four core nutrients: nitrogen, potash, phosphorus and lime. The lack of any of these nutrients leads to deficiency symptoms.
In the case of a lack of nitrogen, the growth in length decreases, the leaves remain small and assume a yellowish-green color. Constant excess of nitrogen leads to a preponderance of shoot growth and a decrease in flower bud formation. Kalimangel has an effect mainly on insufficient resistance against diseases and frost. Phosphorus deficiency is noticeable in the delayed fruiting. Lime makes heavy soil looser, while improving soil in its water balance.
Organic fertilizer
Organic fertilizer is the rotten remains of plants and animal excretions. From plant waste of all kinds, which are collected on a compost heap, decomposition causes an intensive soil life and the waste turns into humus. As animal excretions find in the garden cow or horse manure use.
Mineral fertilizer
The mineral fertilizers are naturally occurring or industrially produced salts containing one or more plant nutrients. Well applicable are the so-called full or mixed fertilizers containing several core nutrients and important trace elements in a favorable ratio for the plants.

Tips & Tricks
The soil under the cherry trees can also be improved by the green manure. In the process, at the end of the summer, certain annual plants are sown on the tree-pulp, and next spring their remains are worked into the soil.
