Club lilies usually do not tolerate frost
Club lilies are generally not hardy
The club lily, botanical Cordyline, is not hardy and suitable in our latitudes only as potted plants. A distinction is made between hot-house and cold-house species. Some varieties must be kept at consistently high temperatures throughout the year, while other species thrive on the terrace in summer.
Difference between warm house and cold house club lilies
With regard to care, the two species hardly differ. Also, both forms are not hardy. However, they have different demands on the temperatures in winter.
Warm house club lilies at room temperatures overwinter
Cordyline fruticosa and C. terminalis are among the best-known warm-house club lilies. You need a warm location throughout the year with temperatures between 18 and 20 degrees.
Cold-spring club lilies spend the winter in a cool place
Cordyline australis is the most commonly grown species in our latitudes. Like the C. indivisia, it is not hardy but tolerates cooler temperatures.
Kalthaus club lilies are allowed to spend the summer on the terrace or on the balcony.
If it is cooler than eight degrees outside, you should bring the plants into the house and prepare for wintering.

During winter time, it is wintered in a bright, frost-free place. Temperatures should be between eight and twelve degrees. A place in the cool greenhouse, in the hall or on a bright basement window is ideal.
In winter quarters, pour very little so that the club lily does not dry out. You should refrain from fertilizing. Slowly get used to the sun after the winter break, otherwise the leaves will burn quickly.
Tips
Club lilies are often confused with the well-known dragon tree and sold as such. The difference is easy to recognize. Dracaena branches, while Cordyline forms no branches and has broader leaves.
