Yellow leaves on the Kentia palm almost always indicate infestation by pests. How do you recognize the pests and what should you do if Kentia palms get yellow leaves?
Yellow leaves are a sign of spider mites and scale insects
If yellow leaves appear on the Kentia palm, examine the leaves closely. Scale insects show up on vaulting on the leaves. Spider mites are invisible to the naked eye. Spray the fronds with water. If there are small webs in the leaf axils, the Kentia palm is infected with spider mites.
You can cut off the yellow leaves so that there are still three to four centimeters remaining on the trunk.
Rinse the palm with lukewarm water to wash off the pests. Provide greater humidity in the room to prevent yellow leaves from pest infestation.
Tips
The Kentia palm belongs to the non-toxic houseplants. It is therefore also ideally suited if children and pets such as cats are present in the household.
