Catnip is known for its beguiling effect on cats. But can she be carelessly made available to cuddly tots or is she poisonous? And: Is it actually edible for humans?
No toxic substances
The catnip contains no substances that have a harmful effect on the organism. It is non-toxic to both humans and animals. However, since it can cause intoxication-like conditions, it should probably be used dosed. In cats, for example, too high a dosage has led to aggressive behavior.
The catnip as a seasoning
Already in the Middle Ages catnip was used. But in most cases their healing power and less their spice power was used. In her home country, in Persia, she is used as a spice plant for various traditional dishes.
Catnip can be eaten in different ways. You can snack on the flowers or use them for salads and desserts. They look very decorative by their color. They taste sweet and slightly minty. The catnip for tea
