The easiest and quickest way to freeze chestnuts is to leave them raw and peeled and put in the form in the freezer (in vacuumed freezer bags). If you would like to use them later, roast the delicacies still frozen in the oven or let them thaw for an hour first to then process them as desired.

In general (with each variant of this guide) it is recommended to cut the chestnuts before freezing with a sharp knife (notching). To do this, carve a small cross on the arched side of the chestnuts. The incision will make it easier to peel the chestnuts later on.

Remove air from the bags - with a vacuum sealer or with the mouth. Close the freezer bag firmly (airtight!). Put the bags in the freezer.

    Cut in the chestnuts. Almost fry them. Let the chestnuts cool off. Put in freezer bags (do not forget to vacuum). Now you can put the bags in the freezer. If you fancy chestnuts, get a load out of the chest, let it thaw, peel it and fry it for about ten minutes. After that they are ready to eat.
