The pitcher plant needs rainforest-like conditions
Pour pitcher plants properly
Pitcher plants (Nepenthes) should never completely dry out. Regular watering and an increase in humidity are therefore necessary. However, there are some things to consider when watering the carnivorous plants.
Water well, but avoid waterlogging
The substrate of the pitcher plant must never completely dry out. Therefore, water the plant regularly, especially in summer. Rainwater is the most suitable. If necessary, you may also use distilled water or boiled tap water.
If possible do not pour directly onto the substrate or the leaves of the plant. It is best if you put the planter on a coaster and fill it with water.
In winter Nepenthes needs less water. Also, the humidity does not have to be that high anymore.
Tips
If the pitcher plant does not form new cans, it may be in a dark location. But it may also be due to low humidity. Most pitcher plants prefer a humidity of at least 60 percent.
