The best planting season for hyacinth bulbs is the early spring. The tubers then grow well and provide flowers for many years.
Depending on their size, the onions are set between 10 and 15 centimeters deep, with the flat end facing downwards.
The winter hardy tubers need winter protection at most in the first year. Alternatively, you can dig them out in the fall and overwinter in the house.
In the pot
In the pot, the onion is set so that the upper end of the earth looks out. After flowering, the plant must take a rest so that the hyacinth bulbs can gather strength for the next season.
They can remain in the pot or taken out and stored in a dry and clean condition in the basement or garden shed.
