In some garden markets, young plants of the watermelon can now also be purchased for the outdoor season from the beginning of May. The fruits can also be grown from the seeds in commercial fruits. The harvest depends on the time of sowing and the location. It usually takes until about September or October, until the plant parts of the honeydew melon die off and thus generally indicate the full ripeness of the golden yellow fruits.
