So pull your own raspberry bushes
You love raspberries and would like to have several shrubs in the garden? Just pull yourself new raspberry bushes from your old plants. You do not need much previous knowledge for that. So it works with the cultivation of own raspberries.
So raspberries are propagated

To pull raspberries from seeds is not recommended. This is very expensive and it is not certain that the desired variety will come out.
When is the best time to draw raspberries yourself?
October and November are the best months to grow raspberries.
The plants have enough time during the winter to grow. Autumn raspberries will bear their first fruit next year.
You can even pull raspberries in early spring. However, they take longer to grow. You can only harvest from the second year.
Pull raspberries from foothills
Most raspberry varieties make numerous foothills. Everywhere near your raspberries you will find new plants after some time, unless you have provided for a root barrier.
Generously prick the earth around the foothills. Lift the plant gently and make sure there are enough roots in it.
Pull raspberries from root cuttings
Use a spade to prick off larger pieces of the root of the raspberry bush. There must be at least three to five eyes in a row.
Lower raspberries
Put a rod on the ground and fix it with hooks. Cover earth in several places on the shoot.
Next spring, it should have formed small plants with roots.
Planting the shoots and root cuttings
Prepare the new site by loosening the soil well and improving it with compost or manure.
Do not plant cuttings or shoots too deep in the ground. Carefully approach the earth. In winter spread a mulch cover over the new plants.
Tips & Tricks
Modern raspberry breeds form less foothills. Propagation of such plants should therefore only be done via root cuttings. This gives you the assurance that you are actually pulling the desired variety.
