Many gardeners can not wait until the red, yellow and black raspberries are finally ripe. How you realize that you can reap the rewards and what you should consider when making raspberry crops.
Harvest time of raspberries depending on the variety
When your raspberries are ripe depends on whether you have planted summer raspberries, autumn raspberries or so-called two-timers.

The main season for summer raspberries lasts from June to July. Occasionally ripe fruits ripen until August.
autumn raspberries
The harvest time for autumn raspberries starts in August. Depending on the variety, you can continuously harvest new fruits until the first frost.
Two-timer raspberries
These raspberries wear twice a year. The first time they are harvested from June, the second harvest season begins in August.
Carefully harvest raspberries
Raspberries are very sensitive and tolerate no pressure. Therefore, pick the fruits very carefully. Ripe raspberries dissolve easily from the shrub.
Place the raspberries side by side in an air-permeable basket. Avoid layering them on top of each other.
Immediately harvest and consume raspberries
Harvest your raspberry bushes continuously. As soon as new fruits show their strong color, they are ready for harvest. If they stay on the bush for too long, they soften and begin to rot.
Fresh raspberries last only a very short time. Even in the fridge they become mushy after a day and lose a lot of flavor. Eat or process the harvest immediately.

Of course, the sweetest fruits taste best fresh from the bush. Also in the summer fruit salad or on fruit tarts they taste delicious.
If the harvest is too lavish, you need to preserve the raspberries. This is best done by:
Read the raspberries carefully for further processing and discard all fruits that have been found to be moldy or have been attacked by maggots.
Tips & Tricks
You love raspberry jelly? Then plant preferably seedless varieties in the garden. You must pass raspberries with seeds through a sieve to make the jelly succeed. This results in more waste than if you can use the fruits as a whole.
