Is the sacred bamboo poisonous?
Like many other garden plants, the sacred bamboo benefits from a regular pruning. However, this plant is not, as one might expect, a "real" bamboo, ie a grass, but a barberry plant.
Like other barberry plants, the sacred bamboo is considered slightly poisonous. So should the very decorative bright red fruits are not eaten. They appear in autumn and remain on the bush until well into winter. So the holy bamboo is not necessarily suitable for a family garden. In addition, the sky bamboo is only partially hardy. Too much frost will freeze its leaves.
