The right planting distance for blueberries in the garden
Wild blueberries often cover the forest floor in partially shaded clearings in dense stands. On the other hand, the high-yielding blueberry berries originating from North America require slightly more space per plant to grow well.
The planting of blueberries
When buying blueberry plants, make sure that they are plants that need an acid peat soil as a substrate. These can also be cultivated well in a pot. When planting in the field, the soil in the planting hole must be partially replaced with peat, if it is not to blueberry varieties that can handle even on calcareous soils.
Plant blueberries in rows
When planting a blueberry garden in rows, a distance of about 2.5 meters should be maintained between rows when planting. So there is still enough space to walk between the grown shrubs later on. The individual plants should have a distance of about 1.5 meters in the row in order to be able to develop well in the form.
Tips & Tricks
Since blueberries spread their roots rather flat, the planting hole must be more broad than deep dug.
