Goji berry bushes can be grown from seeds
The goji berry can easily multiply itself
Since the cultivation of Goji berries has also been promoted in Germany, high-yielding cultivars are also available in greater quantities and quantities in Germany. The strong-growing shrubs with the bright orange-red berries can also be easily reproduced themselves.
Uncontrolled multiplication limit with a rhizome barrier
There are basically three main types of propagation in the Goji berry:
The propagation of the Goji berry, however, is not always something that is especially actively sought by gardeners. In many cases garden owners are afraid of planting in the garden bed at all and prefer to grow in a pot, since in this crop form the formation of underground root shoots is automatically directed into controlled paths. If Goji berries are still to be planted out in the garden, then the use of a rhizome barrier around the plants offers itself as with the bamboo. Otherwise it can sometimes come to a strong spread of the foothills across the garden.
Goji berries multiply with cuttings
The most common method of propagation of goji berries is the cutting of cuttings. After all, this method provides a rapid growth of the young plants thus obtained and cutting material falls in the high-growth shrubs anyway in sufficient quantities annually. Either green cuttings in early summer or mature cuttings in autumn can be cut. The cuttings propagation in the fall usually gives better results. For this purpose, about 10 to 20 cm long pieces are cut off from the shrubs and inserted into a permeable cultivation substrate. If cuttings are pulled in the pot on the warm sill, a slipped-over foil cover can ensure a constantly high level of humidity.
Pull seedlings from the seeds of the goji berry
In general, the seeds of dried goji berries are still quite capable of germination, if you bring them carefully out of the berries. The seeds of Goji berry are ideally placed on a moistened tissue cloth for germination. They germinate as Lichtkeimer only uncovered, but can be isolated shortly after germination in fine Aussaaterde. Since the plants are very sensitive at first, they require relatively constant care and good light and moisture conditions.
Tips
Shrubs grown from seed require an average of up to two years longer than the goji berries grown from cuttings, before a significant number of berries can be harvested for the first time. Therefore, the cuttings propagation of sowing is preferred in most cases.
