Due to its unpretentiousness, the goji berry, also known as the buckthorn, is to be discovered in many parts of Central Europe as street companion green. Specially bred for a high yield, the varieties are basically similarly undemanding, but develop under perfect conditions, especially splendidly.
Only young plants are wintered protected
From seed or cuttings propagated young plants of Goji berry are in the first year under certain circumstances not as hardy as hardy as older specimens of this species. They are therefore either overwintered in a bright and unheated winter quarters or protected in the field with a layer of mulch or foliage from the winter cold.
