Instead of throwing away the decayed geraniums - which are actually botanically correct geraniums and not to be confused with the "geranium" - and instead buy new ones in spring, you can also hibernate the flowers and even breed and multiply.
Young geraniums from cuttings breed
It is quite easy to grow geraniums in a vegetative manner by half-maturing in August - d. H. already slightly woody - cut off shoots and overwinter them brightly. Still green and soft shoots are not suitable for this purpose because they rot too fast.
Overwinter the young geraniums in a bright (but not full sun!) Place at temperatures between 10 and 15 ° C. Water the plantlets regularly, but not too much and do without fertilizer. The young plants are finally planted in February / March at the latest in nutrient-rich compost soil.
Pull geraniums from seeds

Keep in mind that geraniums belong to the light germs and therefore can only be covered thinly with earth - it is best to sieve only a wafer-thin layer of substrate over the grains.
