The Venus flytrap is probably the best known carnivorous plant
Representative species of carnivorous plants
The carnivorous plants (carnivores) include all species that receive their nutrients not only from the plant substrate, but also from traps. In these traps they lure insects, which they then digest to release nutrients. There are several representative species that are grown in our latitudes mainly as indoor plants.

Safety gears of representative species
The main types of carnivorous plants differ not only in appearance and size. The type of catch traps is very different. There are five different trap types:
Meat-preserving plant species in the house
All carnivorous plants, which you pull in the house as an ornamental plant or for insect destruction, have certain requirements on location and care. In part, nursing requires a lot of prior knowledge to help the plants thrive.
The easiest to pull is the fat herb. It is particularly suitable for plant lovers who want to get into the hobby of carnivores.
All other representative species of carnivorous plants prefer special locations where it is humid and has higher temperatures. These varieties are not suitable for the normal flower window.
Meat-eating plants need special soil
No carnivorous plant should be grown in normal garden soil or in potting soil. These soils contain far too many nutrients and condense very quickly.
Carnivores have special carnivorous soil to buy. It is characterized by the fact that it is not very nutritious, but very relaxed. Orchid soil can also be used as a substitute if it is only slightly fertilized.
Experts make their own plant substrate for carnivores. The main constituent is peat (white peat), which is mixed with quartz sand, expanded clay, peat moss and even polystyrene balls.
Meat-freezing plants properly
The plant substrate of carnivorous plants must never completely dry out. Most representative species only tolerate waterlogging for a short time. It is recommended to always create a drainage in the pot.
The pots with carnivore species are placed in coasters. In these, the irrigation water is filled, in such a way that a water level of one to two centimeters is reached. This casting technique is called damming method.
If the water has been absorbed by the substrate, wait two days and then add new water. All representative species do not like it when poured from above.
Meat Freeze Never water plants with tap water
Kalkhaltiges tap water do not tolerate carnivorous plants. Always use rainwater. If there is no rainwater, pour still mineral water.
Tips
Meat-free plants do not need to be supplemented with insects. Extra food is superfluous and even harmful. If you are feeding, then only one prey, only live insects.
