On the other hand, the digestive process takes several days, in which the trap attracts no new mosquitoes. It therefore already requires the breeding of many carnivorous plants to achieve a noticeable effect.
Fatwort in small mosquitoes
In the case of very small mosquitoes, it may be worth trying to care for butterwort in the home. This species is quite easy to keep even for beginners.
However, the butterwort is only able to cope with very small insects such as mosquitoes or fruit flies. In addition, you would need to set up pots of the herb wherever possible in the apartment to keep a mosquito infestation in check.
Caring for carnivores is expensive
Another point against the usefulness of carnivorous plants against mosquito plagues is the fact that most species are not very easy to care for.
The humidity should be at least between 40 and 60 percent, depending on the species. This is accompanied by an increased risk of mold in the house.
The casting of carnivorous plants also requires a bit of tact. Most suitable is the damming process, in which the coaster is filled with water. In addition, pitcher plants must be sprayed regularly with water.

In addition to proper care, the location plays a major role in the breeding of carnivorous plants. With dark windows, you can not hold carnivores to catch mosquitoes.
Meat-freshening plants need a lot of light, which they only get at a south or west window.
Tips
To displace mosquitoes, other plants such as lavender or tomatoes in front of the window are better. They emit a strong scent that prevents the mosquitoes from flying into the room. These plants are much easier to care for than carnivorous plants.
