Harvest beans
For a few weeks the bright blossoms of the Feuerbohnen delight us. Now it is early July and the first pods are ready for harvest. They can be harvested as young green beans or as mature beans. Also fire beans are raw poisonous. Cooked are delicious and wholesome vegetable dishes and salads prepared from it.
harvest time
In May seeded firebeans bear the first ripe fruit from the beginning of July. Regular picking encourages the formation of new fruits. Until the frost, you can harvest late-seeded beans.
Harvest beans as tender, green beans
Especially tender are the small, young beans from a size of 5 cm. They are harvested as whole pods and processed as cut beans.
Harvest mature beans
If you want to harvest dry beans, you have to ripen pods and seeds fully. If the weather stays dry, you can literally dry the pods on the plant. Then spread them out side by side in a dry place and let them dry for at least two weeks.
Also boiled beans necessarily eat cooked!
As with all bean varieties, the pods and seeds of the raw bean are raw when they are raw. Therefore always boil beans before you consume them as vegetables, soup or bean salad.
Preservation of fire beans
Baked beans can be preserved by boiling and deep-freezing. Highly recommended is freezing. With this method, vitamins and taste are best preserved.
