Rock pears are not as easy to "educate" as many other plant varieties. The size depends on a few years at the selected location but of course also on factors such as the climate, the soil condition or fertilization. Use cuts as growth restriction only very selectively
Older specimens of the rock pear can be very sensitive to a massive pruning. Therefore, all cuts should be made either very carefully and thoughtfully or at all only in the course of the so-called boxing done. If a rock pear is too dense, you can cut individual shoots of the usually multi-stemmed plant in the late winter near the ground. Sometimes it may be sufficient to limit the growth in height to cultivate the rock pear in a bucket.
Low rock pears facilitate the harvest
