Torch lilies, also called rocket flowers, are very popular ornamental shrubs because of their luminous flower pistons. They are not only easy to clean. The gardener enjoys her flowers all summer long.
Flowering from June to fall
The first flowers of the torch lily appear in June. At a favorable location, the plant produces new flowers until September. Some varieties even bloom into October.
It is important to cut flowers immediately to stimulate the flowering of the plant.
Only if you want to collect seeds for later sowing, the sprouted pistons must remain on the plant.
Tips & Tricks
There are about 70 different species of torch lily, which are only partially hardy. The inflorescences have the shape of a piston and are also known as rocket flowers. The color palette ranges from white-green to yellow and orange to dark scarlet.
