Keep the roots of mountain ash in check
Rowan roots are not very deep, but the roots are growing very fast in the first years. In an unfavorable situation, they can damage underground pipes and pipes. Therefore, rowan trees should be planted in the garden only with root barrier.
Aggressive root system
Rowan or rowan trees have a countersink root system that can be very shallow under the surface.
Between the main roots forms a dense network of small roots, which initially spreads strong. In the following years both tree and roots grow much slower.
If you are planting a rowan in the garden, you should leave enough space for pipes, pipes and other plants.
Create root barrier

Remove side shoots
Rowan trees often produce seedlings near the trunk. As a result, they quickly become a nuisance in the garden because the tree then overgrows everything.
Remove side shoots immediately to prevent uncontrolled spreading of tree and roots.
The best time to pull out side shoots is shortly after a downpour. From the moist soil, the seedlings can be easily pulled out.
Transplant mountain ash
Make sure you have a good location for rowan from the beginning. At the latest when transplanting shows that it is almost impossible to get all roots out of the ground.
Therefore, you should only implement a rowan tree as long as the tree is still small.
Tips & Tricks
The roots of rowan love a uniform moisture, but tolerate no waterlogging. Provide a well drained soil and protect the earth with a mulch cover from dehydration.
