The right temperature at the site of the date palm
Date palms come from regions where it is very bright and warm. You have to create these conditions so that a date palm tree grows well as a houseplant. What temperature should prevail at the location of date palms?
High temperatures during the growth phase
During the growth phase in summer the date palm needs high temperatures. It is ideal if the location is around 25 degrees.
Therefore, make the date palm as bright and sunny as possible. Make sure that the leaves do not burn and turn brown.
Date palm winter in winter cooler
In winter, the date palm prefers cooler temperatures. During the hibernation they should be 15 degrees, but not lower than 10 degrees.
When keeping in the field older date palms tolerate frost temperatures down to -6 degrees at least for a certain period of time.
Tips
On the stem of a date palm, quite sharp edges develop, which can easily injure you. When cultivating date palms you should therefore wear gloves for safety's sake.
