What planting distance applies to Clematis?
Since the clematis are often planted in small groups, the question of the ideal planting distance always comes back to the center of interest. Given the wide variety of species and varieties, different dimensions are considered. For the most important clematis species we have compiled the values for you:
The non-climbing perennial Clematis (Clematis hexapetala or Clematis integrifolia) are planted depending on the function in the distance. For example, if they serve as ground cover, place one plant per square meter of the bed. The same applies to the carpet forest vine (Clematis x jouiniana).
Cultivate clematis in a bucket, find 2-3 specimens in a 50 liter container. Here, the distance may be chosen slightly smaller with 30 to 35 centimeters, since for this purpose anyway only the smaller hybrids come into question.
