The popular autumn flowers you can already buy rich flowering or even attract yourself. In addition, chrysanthemums are often available as young plants in spring, but they require even more intensive care. Pull young plants themselves
If you enjoy using even young plants, Chrysanthemums should be very successful. The plant is quite easy to propagate via Kopfstecklinge or by root division, but also pull from seeds. Please note that chrysanthemums are cold germs and should therefore be stratified before sowing. The best time to pick cuttings is early summer. The sowing takes place either in the autumn or, if you prefer the Chrysanthemum, from February.
Repot young chrysanthemums
The rooting of the cuttings or the raising of the seedlings is best done in low-nutrient potting soil. However, the young plants should be converted into a humus rich substrate as soon as possible.
The seedling will feel well in a light and warm location, but without direct sunlight.
Plant chrysanthemums only in the second year
You can put the pots with the Chrysanthemum young plants from mid to late May - after the Eisheiligen - first by the hour to outside, in order to slowly adapt the plantlets. However, planting should take place only in the second year - if it is a perennial variety, one-year-old can of course immediately into the garden - since the young chrysanthemums must first be hardened. Tips
If you occasionally relax the young chrysanthemums - ergo pinch the shoot tips - the plant is stimulated to a more branched and bushier growth. The same effect is the regular pruning of faded parts of plants.
