Is it worth it to overwinter chili?
Chilli plants are naturally created for perennial culture. Of course, they are not hardy in the local latitudes. The cost of a hibernation is worthwhile only under certain conditions.
Towards the end of hibernation a pruning takes place. At the same time you pot the chili plant and gradually get used to higher temperatures. In view of this effort, it is hardly surprising that even professional breeders favor the one-year culture.
Tips & Tricks
If you want to dare to hibernate, we recommend game species, such as Chile Pin or Rocoto. Although these are not hardy, they score with a particularly robust physique.
