In order for the Camellia japonica to develop many flowers, it first needs a long period of cold. If the plant is too warm, only few or sometimes no flowers develop.
The duration of flowering is shortened by too high ambient temperatures. Blossoms keep in a favorable location with low temperatures up to five weeks.
Tips & Tricks
If camellias do not bloom or the buds and leaves drop prematurely, it is usually too warm. Frequent turning of the pot, which is often suspected as a cause, is not responsible for this.
