This masterpiece performs a bromeliad only once in her life. However, disposing of the ornamental plant immediately after flowering would be premature. At the end of its heyday, the bromeliad provides a surprise for its gardener. At the base, descendants sprout as miniature bromeliads. Therefore, do not throw away a withered plant, but continue the care unchanged. Until a Kindel is viable as a standalone bromeliade, the supply should be ensured by the mother plant. The following procedure has been well proven in practice:
Plant a Kindel in a potting pot with coarse-grained, lime-free Bromeliad soil. Since only a sparse root system has formed in this phase, put a transparent plastic bag over the pot for a few weeks. Only when you have separated all mature side shoots, the faded Bromelie can be disposed of.
Tips
Although bromeliad is non-toxic, its majestic jewelry leaves should be treated with care. In many species, the leaf margins are covered with sharp spikes, which can cause painful skin injuries. Therefore please wear sturdy gloves during all care work.
