Can I make a wooden bedstead myself?
A wooden bed frame is relatively easy to build yourself, but you need time for it. After all, the enclosure should be stable. Nevertheless, a wooden bed frame is not as durable as a stone, because wood weathered once.
Which wood is suitable for a bed enclosure?
If you want to enjoy your wooden bed frame over many years, then you should use durable wood for it. For example, Douglas fir, oak, larch and robinia are relatively weather-resistant, but they are not as inexpensive as soft wood. Soft and less weather-resistant woods should be treated before putting them in damp soil, so they do not rot too fast.

How did I design a wooden bed frame
A wooden surround is not synonymous with a picket fence. You have numerous design options for a bed enclosure. Low palisades are quite popular. They can be applied in a uniform height but also deliberately irregular. Weatherproof wood is simply hammered into the ground with a mallet up to the desired height.
The braided bed enclosure
If you are adept at craftsmanship, then you can weave your own bedding enclosure yourself. Suitable for this are the young shoots of willow and hazel bushes. Do not leave the cut shoots too long, otherwise they will dry and harden. Then the braiding is fast becoming a real show of strength for you.
If the required wood grows in your garden, then this enclosure is also very cost effective. Both hazel and willow can be cut back quite generously, without the bush taking permanent damage. So you can renew your enclosure at any time.
The fast tour
If you want to create a wooden bed frame with very little effort, then you buy prefabricated palisade elements in the hardware store. These are round or semi-round timbers fastened together with strips or wire. Elements with wire can be bent into different shapes or adapted to existing curves and quite easily hit with a mallet in the (loose) earth.
Tips
If your garden is extremely humid, wooden bed frames may be less suitable or need to be replaced regularly.
