How can I protect my bed from cats?
A fresh new bed is a pleasant sight, apparently not only for garden lovers but also for cats. Unfortunately, these do not simply enjoy the sight, instead they use such a bed as a litter box.
Fine crumbly, freshly raked soil seems to have an irresistible appeal for any cat. That is, it seems, at least, especially for freshly sown vegetable beds. But there are quite simple ways to keep cats away. Place some prickly shoots of roseback or blackberries on the bed.
Alternatively, cut off a few strips of aluminum foil and tie them to rods that you place in the bed. The crackling and glittering of the film then keeps the animals from continuing to use the bed as a litter box.
