A bare wall is not always a nice sight. As a bed can be very quickly remedied. However, there are a few things to consider so that the plants grow well there and the wall stays nice and clean.
Is a distance between the house wall and the bed useful?
A distance between the flowerbed and the wall of the house is always useful if the growth of the plants is affected by the house or if the wall would be polluted by the plants. For example, this happens relatively often on the weather side for longer. Through prolonged or very heavy rain, the earth shoots up and leaves unsightly marks.
In most cases, gravel can help quickly. Even a narrow strip ensures a sufficiently large distance. Alternatively, cover the bed with bark mulch or gravel. Ground coverers also keep the earth in check in the bed.
The bed on the south wall
On the south wall of your house, you should only put plants with high light requirements. But also important is the moisture content of the soil. If it is dry, you can water thirsty plants, but you will hardly get to wet soil. Mediterranean herbs are also suitable for the south wall, as most of them tolerate the full sun quite well.

Above all, plants that love the shade belong to the north wall. Astilbe or Funkien should feel quite comfortable here. Rarely, however, is the house wall so aligned that it casts its shadow over the bed all day long. Areas that have at least a few hours of sunshine can be equipped with plants that are suitable for partial shade.
