Fancy trees for the garden
Many beautiful deciduous and coniferous trees can be found in almost every garden. Anyone who wants to set accents in his area and care for the astonished looks of the neighbors, decides for unusual species. The presented here thrive well in our climate and are an ornament for the front garden.
Unusual garden trees

Chinese Bluebell Tree (Paulownia tomentosa)
With its luxuriant foliage, this deciduous, up to 15-meter-high tree looks almost tropical. He builds a picturesque, wide-spreading crown with his thick, little branched branches. Particularly striking, however, are the violet, funnel-shaped flowers that stand in large panicles on the ends of the previous year's branches and open in April just before the deciduous foliage.
Gingko or fan leaf tree (Ginkgo biloba)
This deciduous tree, native to China and Japan, grows up to 30 meters in height. There are numerous varieties that differ in habit and foliage. Recommended for small gardens and pots is the zwergwüchsige gingko 'Marieken'.
Katsura tree (Cercidiphyllum japonicum)
The summer green, early-spreading Katsurabaum is also called cake or gingerbread tree. It usually grows multi-stemmed to a tree up to 15 meters high with a conical crown. The species has bluish-green, peculiar, hand-nerved leaves on the upper side, which turn very pale yellow to scarlet in autumn. The falling leaves exude a cake-like scent. This beautiful wood grows slowly and therefore finds enough space even in medium-sized gardens.
Handkerchief tree (Davidia involucrata)
The summer green handkerchief tree is also called dove tree. It grows slowly up to a tree about 15 meters high. The broad, heart-shaped leaves are fresh green above, densely silky hairy below. Quite unusual are the flowers of this tree: they are actually inconspicuous, but flanked by white, up to 16 centimeters long and hanging bracts. Flowering trees are spectacular at the height of flowering in May / June.
Tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera)
The tulip tree is closely related to the magnolias, but becomes much larger with a height between 25 and 40 meters. The bluish-green leaves turn golden yellow in the autumn. The real attraction, however, are the tulip-like flowers with the yellow petals.
Tips
In the coniferous trees, the bald cypress, which is up to 40 meters high, is regarded as an exceptional exotic. The tree is very suitable for planting at sea or pond edges.
