Asters are sometimes considered the garden flowers in the fall season. But is the planting of these pretty flowering shrubs really harmless or are they poisonous?
Gardeners are non-toxic
The well-known gardeners such as Raublattastern, Kissenaster, smooth-leaf asters and mountain asters are non-toxic to humans. Even for animals such as cats and rabbits, these asters pose no danger.
Here are some hints:
Chrysanthemums are often referred to as asters. That's right, because they belong to the asters. They are however poisonous for pets. Keep them away from pets and children!
Tips
Newly purchased asters should not be eaten as they are often contaminated with pesticides and fungicides.
