The lemon verbena is not designed to survive a Central European winter. Just temperatures of -5 ° C tolerates them over several weeks. Far lower temperatures should not fall in the long term. That would mean the end for the lemon verbena.
In this country, this is unrealistic. Mostly winter temperatures fall well below the -5 ° C mark and persist for several days and nights. Even in winegrowing regions it will be cooler.

You do not want to give up your lemon verbena? The cool winter season requires that you either hibernate your lemon verbena or you re-plant it in the spring. Alternatively, you can propagate the bush over cuttings in the fall and bring them home until spring.
The wintering is only worthwhile if the lemon verbena grows in a pot. That's how it's done:
During the winter, the lemon verbena should have a touch of care: watering. This is necessary for the roots to survive and not dry up. Pour sparingly and only if the soil is dry to a depth of 1 cm.

Although the lemon verbena must be poured in hibernation mode, you should protect it from fertilization. For this reason, make sure that the irrigation water, which you may also use for other plants at home, contains no liquid fertilizer.
