The bulbs of non-winter hardy ornamental varieties should be dug up in the fall
How can the ornamental spring be overwintered?
Not all varieties of garlic are sufficiently hardy. You need a wintering. Then there are those specimens that are outside in the tub. They too should be wintered. But how?
Excavate onions and quarter
With the few varieties of the ornamental onion it is the case that they do not tolerate frost. In these you should dig up the bulbs in autumn:
If your garnish is outside in the tub, it should also be wintered. Otherwise, the onion threatens to freeze in the bucket. Bring the bucket in and put it in a frost-free, but cool place during the winter!
Tips
The temperatures during wintering should not be too warm. Otherwise, the bulb sprouts during wintering.
