You already own a desert rose? Then you can use the seeds from your own harvest. After the flowering time is over in the middle / end of June, the seeds are ripening. As a rule, the capsules in which the seeds are found are ripe in July and at the latest in August. When mature, the capsules burst and release their contained seeds.
If you do not have your own desert rose yet, you can buy the seeds from specialist retailers. But beware: only trust in good quality! Otherwise it could be that you receive superimposed and poorly germinable seeds. In general, the fresher the seeds are, the better their germination capacity.
Sow the seeds properly
Pull the desert rose out of seeds? With this small instruction, the breeding works determined:
If you have placed the seed pot in a warm place - ideally 20 to 25 ° C - and kept the substrate moderately moist, the seeds will happily germinate within a few days.
Usually the last seeds are sprouted within 10 days. Only in rare cases germination takes up to 3 weeks. From a size of 10 cm, the seedlings can be repotted.
Tips
If you have multiplied the desert rose by means of its seeds, you can expect a first flowering at the new places at the earliest after 2 years.
