Which wood is suitable for the garden house?
Garden houses should fit well into the green area. Therefore, wood is still the most popular building material for arbors. The ecological building material lives and fits optically through the attractive grain in the natural environment. However, you must pay attention to what type of wood you use, because not all woods are equally well suited.
The most common types of wood are:
Inexpensive pine
Pine is currently the cheapest wood you can use for the construction of the arbor. The slightly reddish-yellow colored material can be easily processed and impresses with an interesting grain. However, the not quite so hard pine wood takes up liquid, so without lacquer or glaze you will not get along with this material for the garden shed.
Extremely popular: spruce
Even spruce wood is relatively inexpensive and can be processed well. When stored, the almost white wood turns brown to gray. It should therefore be protected with a glaze or paint before weathering.
Attractive weathered larch
Larch is not cheap. For this reason, many owners of a bower use this wood only for the outer facade. Unlike spruce and pine, larch, due to the weather, creates a beautiful, silver-gray shimmer, as it is known from Black Forest houses. This softwood does not necessarily have to be deleted.
Pay attention to sufficient wall thickness
Not only the type of wood is important for the stability of the house, the wall thickness also plays a crucial role. If you want to use the hut not only as a storage place for garden tools and the lawn mower, the wall thickness should be at least 30 millimeters. The thicker the wall, the more robust the wood, and it does not warp too quickly. From a thickness of 40 millimeters, you can also take advantage of the pleasant climate-controlling properties of wood.
Tips
Also make sure that the wood used comes from northern Europe. Here, the trees grow slower due to the cold, the material is thus particularly resistant and harder.
