How often do I have to water the rue?
Regular watering is required only in the first days and weeks after planting. Once a rue has established itself at the site, it is sufficient for the normal rainfall. In the pot, on the other hand, the watering can is always in use when the substrate has dried to a depth of 3-4 cm.
Is fertilization useful on a rue?
A Ruta graveolens prefers lean, loamy-sandy to pebbly. Continuous nutrient intake is therefore not beneficial. A small portion of compost after pruning in the spring, on the other hand, brings this year's growth into a good mood. In the bucket the rue gladly accepts a liquid herbal fertilizer in March / April to start the season.
When and how do I cut the subshrubs correctly?
Your uncomplicated mind proves the rue not least in terms of pruning. In February or March cut the subshrubs back near the ground. As long as at least one pair of buds remain on each stalk, the plant drives it out again diligently. If possible, avoid a premature cut in the fall, as this measure affects the winter hardiness.
Is the rue hardy?
The rue comes from the sunny, warm, winter-mild regions of the Mediterranean. Therefore, the natural beauty has only a conditional winter hardiness. In rough conditions, the plant freezes regularly back to its lignified base. This is not a cause for concern, of course, as it drives out again in April. Tips
