How do the plants get into the wine balloon?
Of course, only plants in the wine balloon, which can fit through the narrow opening. To plant a wine balloon you need:
1. The drainage
If you happen to have a glass drill at hand, you can drill two holes in the bottom of the wine balloon to drain excess water. But that is not absolutely necessary. Instead, just put a five-centimeter thick layer of expanded clay into the wine balloon. Excess water collects here and prevents root rot and algae.
2. The earth
Mix two-thirds of garden or potting soil with one-third of coarse-grained sand and place a five to seven-centimeter-thick layer into the wine balloon.
3. Put the plants in the wine balloon
Remove the plants from the flowerpots and remove all soil from the roots. Be careful not to damage them! Then use a cane to squeeze a chill into the earth in the wine balloon and use the sticks to push the plants through the throat to that spot. Press them with the sticks around.
Which plants for the wine balloon?
In the wine balloon forms due to the spherical shape a kind of microclimate and indeed a tropical - the moisture that give off the plants, settles on the glass and pearls back into the earth.
