First settle young plants - then fertilize
While growing young tomatoes in the sheltered environment of the greenhouse or window sill, they still receive no fertilizer. In this phase, they should independently develop a root system, without being served nutrients on the silver platter. After the young plants were planted in the open air or on the balcony in mid-May, a week of familiarization takes place. Then the nutrient supply starts.

Since organic fertilizer is difficult to administer to tomatoes in the pot, the retailer offers liquid fertilizer made from natural ingredients. The preparations are also supplied from the second week after planting. Until the fruit set, the two-week dose is sufficient. Following this, an increase in dosage to a weekly rhythm is recommended, given the very limited amount of substrate in the bucket.
Tips & Tricks
The nutrient supply does not start until the second week after planting. It is of course an advantage to repeatedly shower the seed soil with horsetail broth. This measure strengthens the young tomatoes early on an impending infestation with brown rot.
