The right care for the woodruff
The woodruff is an aromatic and medicinal plant that has been collected for centuries and preserved for kitchen use. With appropriate care, the plant can also be grown as a groundcover in the garden.

At its wild locations in the forest, the woodruff is often reached by the rain only indirectly via the moisture-storing forest soil. The plants should also get a watering in a pot or under a tree in the garden no waterlogging. But they thrive especially well when you keep the soil evenly moist and so soften extended dry periods.
Can you transplant woodruff?
The roots of the woodruff are relatively delicate and sensitive, so it should be transplanted only with great care and in mild weather conditions. Preferring the seeds and subsequent planting is usually not worthwhile for the woodruff. It is usually sown directly on the spot as an icing bucket between September and December. If the woodruff spreads too much at one point in the garden, it can most likely be transplanted in autumn.
When does one cut and harvest the woodruff?

The plant is less susceptible to diseases and pests, therefore, growth problems are mostly due to location factors such as solar radiation, water supply or soil conditions.
Do you have to fertilize woodruff?
Woodruff requires no special fertilization, the accumulation of leaves around the plants is sufficient as a nutrient supply.
How do you care for the woodruff in winter?
In most locations, the woodruff is easily hardy, however, in exposed or higher locations, the winter cover with some leaves may have a positive effect on spring growth.

In the first year after sowing, the woodruff should not be harvested if possible, so that the fine roots can unfold undisturbed.
