How to properly trim your forest hydrangea - important tips and tricks
Hydrangeas are among the most popular garden plants in this country, because they are not only easy to care for but also very decorative. Its lush large flowers are still very beautiful even in the wilted state and are often used for dry bouquets.
Are all hydrangeas trimmed the same?
When cutting hydrangeas great differences are made because each variety has its own special requirements. So some varieties drive out the buds for the next year in the fall. These species include, for example, the peasant, giant leaf, climbing or plate hydrangea, in principle most species at all.
All these hydrangeas should be carefully pruned to keep the buds for the next flowering. Cut only the withered flowers just above the bud approaches. If necessary, thin the shrub a bit more. Also cut off old dried shoots just above the ground.
If you want to bring hydrangeas of this species into a new shape and, for once, prune them more vigorously, then of course that is also possible. The hydrangea is persistent enough to recover well. However, you have to expect that this plant will develop fewer flowers next year.
