In pot culture tulip bulbs are almost defenseless to the temperature fluctuations of winter. While the cold stimulus is important for the later flowering induction, the heat of the winter sun can be detrimental. Read here how to properly winter tulips in a pot.
Burying pots without further ado - That's how it works
The tulip bulbs are planted right in time for the start of spring, so they are planted in the pot in autumn of last year. In order to protect the flower bulbs from strong temperature fluctuations, we recommend the following horticultural trick:
If the winter comes with plenty of rainfall, cover the buried pots with fleece or foil. A snow cover, on the other hand, is an advantage so that the tulip bulbs are stimulated to budge. As soon as no violent ground frosts are expected in early spring, dig out the tulip bulbs in the pot again.
