Thyme loves warm and sunny
The Mediterranean climate is characterized by long periods of drought, plenty of sun and heat. The summer is hot, but the winter is rather mild. In addition to the full sun, the quality of the soil also determines the success or failure of planting with Mediterranean herbs such as thyme. These plants are perfectly adapted to dry and nutrient-poor soils and therefore quickly overwhelmed with too-rich soil. Perfect is a permeable, loose soil with a high proportion of sand or gravel. The optimum pH value is in the neutral to basic range. Heavy, loamy soils can be loosened up with the addition of sand. Sour soils are not suitable - thyme, as well as other plants of the Mediterranean, will enter quickly.
