If you want to transplant a Thuja, you only have to dig it out carefully. If you want to completely remove the Tree of Life from the garden, you can do it more radically while excavating. What should you watch out for when digging up a thuja?
Dig up thuja - what should be considered?
Thuja is a Flachwurzler that develops a very dense and fine root system. If you have planted the tree of life as a hedge, the roots mix with each other, so it is not easy to dig out a single tree.
The older the thuja, the denser the root ball and the heavier the tree itself. For larger specimens you will need a winch and technical equipment to transport the tree of life.
If you want to dig up a whole hedge from Thuja, you should think about hiring a specialist company. Then eliminates the problem of disposal of Thujen.
Prepare excavation
Three days before the planned thuja's digging, you water the soil. Then it's a bit easier to get the roots out of the ground.
If the tree is to be completely removed, cut it all the way down to the rest. The remaining tree trunk should be so long that you can attach a winch to it if necessary.

Make a slash in the ground around the tree. Lift the root ball with a grave fork, so that you hurt as few roots as possible.
To loosen up the roots and make it easier to dig up, shake the tree again and again on the trunk.
Cover the root ball with some soil after digging in sackcloth or plant it immediately after the new place.

If the hedge is to disappear completely from the garden, simply cut down the tree.
If you do not want to dig up the roots of the Thuja hedge, you can leave them in the ground. Just pour enough earth on. The tree of life will not drive out again.
Tips
The roots of the Thuja rot only very slowly. It takes years for them to completely decompose. The soil may therefore lower further over time at the planting site.
