Apply for the creation of a meadow orchard promotion

The establishment and management of orchards can be financially supported in many federal states. Which pots concretely tap into, varies greatly from one federal state to another - it is best to ask your local nature conservation authority, the competent environmental office.

Promotion in Bavaria

If you want to create a meadow orchard again, you can have this project promoted by various agencies. According to the Bavarian Landscape Management and Nature Park Guidelines, the Lower Nature Conservation Authority covers up to 70 percent of the costs of materials and trees. The nature conservation authority is affiliated to your competent Landratsamt. By contrast, the Bavarian Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry is even paying up to 100 percent of the costs for trees and seeds as part of the "More green through rural development" campaign. Furthermore, already existing orchards can be promoted, for example by the Bavarian Treaty Conservation Program (VNP) or the Cultural Landscape Program (KULAP). Both measures pay up to eight euros per tree.

Promotion in Baden-Württemberg

With about 100,000 hectares, most of the orchards in Germany are located in Baden-Württemberg. Of course, the federal state wants to preserve this diversity and, therefore, above all promotes already existing plantings within the framework of a tree pruning premium of up to 15 euros per tree. The funding can be applied for by municipalities, associations or initiatives.

Promotion in Lower Saxony

If you are based in Lower Saxony, you can apply for funding for the new plant ormanage the management of existing orchards in the following places:

Tips & Tricks

In addition, many other federal states, such as Brandenburg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia or Thuringia, offer individual support programs for the creation or management of existing orchard meadows. Often you can just ask the local NABU office.
