A first cut may be made directly after flowering

During each growing season from spring to autumn, the peony peony in the garden goes through a veritable play of colors: first, the shoots appear with a reddish tint, before the leaves turn increasingly greener. After the conspicuous bloom then form the star-shaped fruit capsules, which gradually turn darker and darker until bursting.
