The right shape cut for the false cypress
In most gardens, cypresses are in columnar form, regardless of whether they are pulled as a hedge or a single plant. This form has proven to be particularly favorable to prevent the shedding of the ornamental shrubs.

False cypress trees are by nature quite narrow, but grow rapidly in height. If you do not cut the conifers, there is a risk that they will be frosted down and will no longer provide privacy after a few years.

In a shape cut to the cone or to the column, the false cypress tapers upwards. This gives the lower branches enough light. They continue to drive out and make sure that the conifers stay nice and tight at the bottom.
Cut small false cypresses as a ball
If you want to beautify your garden by decorative cypress balls, you plant varieties that grow rather roundish by nature.
For cutting you should make a template made of cardboard. But you can also get them in the well-stocked garden shop.
If you would like to grow the cypress as a bonsai, use additional winding wire to shape the plant.
Draw cypress trees as straight hedge
Cutting a cypress tree straight is easy, but does not look so pretty. If you prefer such a hedge, you will need to draw a line so that the cut is as straight as possible.
Excessive cypress trees can easily be cut off
If you have not done the pruning of the false cypress regularly, it is not so easy to cut it into shape.
It has proven to be easy to cut off. To do this, saw off the tips - preferably above eye level, because the plant will turn brown in the next few years.
Over time, however, new peaks obscure the brown spot. You can then cut them into the shape you want.
Tips
When cutting, make sure that you do not completely cut off the side shoots. It should always be about three inches long piece with needles on the tree remain. Then the cypress will drive out here again in any case.
